Trauma and Chronic Stress

I have extensive experience supporting patients with PTSD, Complex-PTSD, acute stress disorder, and the mental health impacts of racial, gender, and sexual oppression and generational trauma. I integrate feminist and anti-oppression theories with attachment and neuroscience theories to support clients in finding safety and stability, processing and releasing the wounds of the past, and supporting them to reconnect with themselves and others so as to feel empowered in their lives.

If you vacillate between depression and anxiety, find yourself feeling flat or the opposite - overwhelmed with emotions, contact me to see if I can help.

Grief and Life transitions

The path that led me to became a therapist began with my work as a grief support facilitator, and my heart has always stayed with this work. It is sacred work - where clients are often grappling with existential feelings and ideas about their identity, relationships, purpose, and the routines of their lives.

Grief and struggle can also be present in difficult life transitions like divorce or losing a job, and even joyful transitions like retirement, moving, or starting a family. If you are experiencing loss of any kind, or just want support as you move through big changes in your life, I can help.

Chronic Illness, Chronic Pain, & Health Anxiety

I have always been interested in the relationship between mental health and physical health. As a behavioral medicine consultant in several Bay Area primary care clinics, I worked alongside primary care doctors to support people coping with chronic illness, chronic pain, and health anxiety.

Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other CBT practices, I support my clients in reducing the amount of time they spend preoccupied with or avoiding their health issues, moving through the depression and anxiety that often occurs when one is living with chronic health concerns, and supporting clients to build a life that is meaningful and in line with what they value in life. If you could use this kind of support, contact me to see if I can help.

Perinatal mental health & Parenting Support

I am passionate about supporting the mental health of parents, especially for the way that a little bit of support can lead to significant positive impacts in the lifespan of our children. As a parent myself, I learned early on that support - whether it be by family members, trusted friends, or from professionals, is critical to staying present and centered in the difficult task of caregiving.

Experiencing depression or anxiety during or following pregnancy can be scary and overwhelming. If you are feeling foggy or sad, angry or irritable, detached or anxious, and grappling with feelings of guilt and shame, reach out to me to see if I can provide support.

Other issues I can help with

I have worked for many years as a “Generalist” therapist, which means that I am trained and experienced in treating a full range of mental health disorders: depression, anxiety, ADHD, burnout, and difficulties with emotion regulation.

If you find that you are coping with mental health and life issues that are leading to difficulty focusing, sleeping, attending to work and school, and find yourself unmotivated or worried more often than not, I can help. Reach out and schedule a 15-minute consult to see if I might be the right person to support you through this difficult time.
